He believed that the Virgin Mary herself wished to visit Padre Pio, and despite logistical challenges and initial resistance from local church authorities, the pilgrimage was adjusted. On the evening of August 6th, a helicopter carrying the statue of Our Lady of Fatima arrived in San Giovanni Rotondo. By the following day, he was able to celebrate Mass and, within a week, returned to the confessional after more than three months of incapacity.
